Kavita was working on an important assignment, but was unable to tap the exact solutions that was required.

First scenario — everyday manager

Kavita: I tried my best, I am just unable to find the solution

Manager: You must be doing the wrong way, try to do it following the steps I am telling you.

Second scenario — where a manager was also a coach

Kavita: I tried my best, I am just unable to find the solution

Manager: I just have to go and see my boss, will be back in a minute. Try if you can resolve it by digging deeper into the problem, and I’ll be back to help you find a solution.

15 minutes later, when the manager returns:

Kavita: I’ve got the solution, I was ignoring one small fact, but now I am clear.

Manager: Great. What did you do? Did it affect any other dimension?

Kavita: This was the issue, and I got round it like this…. It does not shake up any things else, I checked that too.

Manager: So happy, you were to find the solution on your own. You are the best!

What’s the difference in the above two approaches?

Solving team’s every problem will only create more problems, let them try on their own first, appreciate their effort and let them grow.

#Coaching is a not a skill, it’s the #Wayoflife!
